Congratulations!

Two staff members from Derby Road, Claire Hedgecock and Karen Mitchell, recently received Certification after producing a portfolio of work that was submitted to CILIP at the end of December 2008.

CILIP, the Chartered institute of Library and Information Professionals, is the leading professional body for librarians, information specialists, and knowledge managers. CILIP membership is an investment in your professional future. Certification is the recognition of the contribution made in library in information work.

This took a huge amount of hard work and time and we just want to say a BIG congratulations to both of them!

March 5th was World Book Day, a day designated by UNESCO as a worldwide celebration of books and reading!

The day is marked in over 100 countries around the globe and, not to be left out, the LRC at Derby Road celebrated in style by creating a fabulous display.

The display offers free pens and bookmarks as well as showcasing a wide variety of literature from popular fiction such as Stephanie Myer’s Twilight to travel guides and cook books.

The display also highlights World poetry day which is later this month. So next time you’re around why not drop in to the library and pick up a great read as well as a freebie!
